Kentucky Derby 2024:Event to be cancelled due to

The 2024 Kentucky Derby, a horse race that has grown to be one of the most anticipated athletic events in the world and in the United States, will take place on Saturday, May 4.

From 1875, Louisville has hosted the popular tournament annually, which has been dubbed a “celebration of Southern culture and a true icon of American culture”. Known as The Run for the Roses, the derby is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year and draws thousands of spectators to each event.

Undoubtedly one of the main attractions of this competition are the horses. Eligibility for this competition is obtained through a series of preparation races that begin in September of the previous year. Among the favorite horses are Fierceness, Sierra Leone, Catching Freedom, Just a Touch, Resilience and Forever Young.

They are the top favorites and major contenders at Churchill Downs in the more traditional three-year-old race, but part of the luck comes into play is the luck of the draw for starting positions.

Cost of horses

The value of horses is sometimes a veritable fortune. The horse that costs the least is Honor Marie, a Whit Beckam yearling, which will be ridden by American professional jockey Ben Curtis, was taken to Keeneland Auctions in September 2021, and was purchased for $40,000.

On the other hand, the three-year-old that cost the most as a yearling is Sierra Leone, who was taken to auction in August 2021 at Saratoga, where he was purchased for a price of $2.3 million.
