Heartbreaking News; Derby County Captain out on terrible injury

Erol Bulut, the manager of Cardiff City, has made it possible for Derby County to sign midfielder Ebou Adams permanently this summer.

In January, the 28-year-old moved on a temporary contract to the East Midlands. Adams played in 11 league games for the Bluebirds in the first half of the season, most of them as a late substitute, therefore it was a transfer that worked for everyone.

Having started every one of the Rams’ 17 League One games since his arrival, he has been instrumental in helping the team win promotion to the Championship. Following a two-year hiatus, Derby will now return to the second division.

Paul Warne’s side has already been urged to make the change permanent. There were rumors last week that an offer was being worked on, and it seems like the international Gambian player would be ready to move. Following their 2-0 victory against Carlisle United the previous Saturday, he said on BBC Radio Derby:

It’s so hard to say—I can’t! From my end, it’s never goodbye.

“I’m going to enjoy my summer, first and foremost! I have no idea where I’m headed. First and foremost, I’m going to enjoy my summer, and then we’ll see where things go from there. I’ve loved every minute of it, and I sincerely appreciate you having me here.

The ex-man from Forest Green Rovers owns one.

“I congratulated him for the victory. They got promoted. He was a big part from the season and helped the team a lot to get promoted.

“New season, if we are all together here, we will see how it goes. He is still under contract of Cardiff City – he is a Cardiff City player. So let’s see how he thinks, how his manager is thinking, how the clubs are thinking – Cardiff City and Derby – and we will see.

“I think there was interest in him, very much, and they took him. But if (they want to sign him permanently), they have to discuss with our club.”

Sometimes loan moves just click. This was one of them. It would be no surprise to see Adams arrive at Pride Park for a second stint this summer and it appears as if Cardiff are willing to sanction his exit.

He has one year remaining on his contract at the Bluebirds, but they are unlikely to stand in his way. The midfielder has made just 13 appearances for the club since his switch from Forest Green in 2022, although has suffered his fair share of injury problems. He deserves a shot at the Championship, and with a club that he helped get there.
