Excitement rested on Derby: Paul Warne

Derby defeated Carlisle United 2-0 to clinch their promotion back to the Championship.

Since then, the players have been taking advantage of a well-earned vacation and a trip to Las Vegas as a treat for getting promoted.

After an exhausting 46-game League One season, they are much-needed relaxation, and when they get back to training, they’ll be ready to take on the difficult challenge of the second tier.

In an effort to put together a team that can compete in the division above, Paul Warne will need to make some important decisions regarding the players on his team, including the contracts of the twelve players who are up for expiration in June.

Like other teams, Derby has not yet released or retained their list, but when they do, fans will know which areas are most in need of reinforcement.

Paul Warne discloses Derby County’s approach to hiring

Derby cannot afford to repeat the disastrous errors of its previous ownership, when they made large purchases.

Rather, the Rams will search the transfer market for some excellent loan players and steals, either for free or at a reduced cost.

Due to Derby’s necessity to sign players on a free transfer or loan last summer, Warne and his scouting team have demonstrated their ability to function on a shoestring.

Now that the EFL has lifted those limitations, David Clowes has more money to spend, and Warne has disclosed the areas in which they will be concentrating their hiring.

“We have to look at the free list, really, which everyone else will look at, but the Championship one isn’t out until the end of the month,” the 50-year-old remarked in an interview with the Derby Telegraph.

“My crew and I are planning to attend select games in Denmark and Holland to observe these specific players. I had a meeting with a player yesterday, and I have another one coming up today or early next week.

Derby is able to find diamonds in Denmark and the Netherlands.

Derby has scheduled visits to the Netherlands and Denmark in order to assess any potential additions to their team as well as to watch them in action.

Searching overseas for talent has far more worth than overpaying for English players. The Rams’ high asking price for highly sought-after English players is due to competition from numerous clubs.

It makes more sense for Derby to search overseas for a hidden gem than to hunt for players closer to home.

Hopefully, the club will unearth some excellent talent ready to take the Championship by storm on those two successful journeys.
