Calum O’Hare of Coventry City and Jacob Greaves of Hull City are targets for West Ham.
Football Insider reports that the Hammers are eager to get started on getting the two into the team as soon as possible this summer.
The London team is contemplating a significant internal reorganization, so they want to start their transfer business as soon as possible.
After deciding not to extend his contract, David Moyes will be replaced as manager.
Tim Steidten, the sports director, is already hard at work refining the first team roster, and Julen Lopetegui is anticipated to take over as coach for the upcoming campaign.
This summer, Steidten intends to bring in English football players, as West Ham is anticipated to lose a number of domestic players.
After his contract with Coventry expires, O’Hare will become a free agency, and the Hammers intend to try to recruit the playmaker.
Greaves is still under contract with Hull, and the centre-back is reportedly demanding for £15 million from the Tigers.
While they make plans for life beyond Moyes, West Ham is trying to swiftly find a relocation for both.
O’Hare has performed well for the Sky Blues thus far, and he played a significant role in the group’s progress to this year’s FA Cup semifinal.
O’Hare played 31 times in the Championship this season, helping the Sky Blues finish ninth in the standings (all stats courtesy of Fbref). He finished with six goals and three assists, but his contract with the CBS Arena is over, so he can sign with any other team this summer. Meanwhile, Greaves, who is signed through the summer of 2026, is a key member of Liam Rosenior’s team, which finished seventh in the standings after 43 games played. Greaves also narrowly missed out on a top six finish.
After placing seventh, Hull made the decision to split with Rosenior, casting doubt on Greaves’ future.
Who will replace the 39-year-old is still up in the air, but one of their initial choices may have an impact on the center back’s future.
The position has been associated with Martí Cifuentes, Steve Cooper, Danny Rohl, and Tim Walter, the former coach of Hamburg.
With owner Acun Ilicali hoping to make an official announcement next week, it is hoped that Hull will be able to schedule an appointment soon.
Good business for West Ham
West Ham would have a strong start to the summer transfer window if they could negotiate a double deal to sign these two players for £15 million.
West Ham might be the perfect place for both players to make their Premier League debuts as they are prepared for the move up.
Although O’Hare will face fierce competition for playing time, players like Lucas Paqueta might decide to leave London Stadium nevertheless.
And Greaves, who is only 23 years old, can give the team new legs at the back.
