Brandon Truter, the former coach of the Moroka Swallows, has found employment at Upington City, a National First Division (NFD) team.
This week, rumors circulated that Truter was about to take a quiet break from coaching and head back to the dugout.
The Northern Cape-based team made the former AmaZulu coach’s appointment public on Friday afternoon.The coach, known as Brakkies, parted company with Sekhukhune United in November 2023, and hasn’t had a club since.
Under the guidance of Thulani Nkosi, City’s chances of being promoted to the PSL have ended due to their recent dismal performance.
City said in the announcement that Truter will be joining their technical team. Whether Nkosi will be demoted or if the two will continue to co-coach was not made clear by the club.In the 2019–2020 season, Truter led the Swallows to the NFD league championship and their re-admission to the top division.

With 33 points from 24 games, City is in position nine and has 18 points remaining. The coach’s goal will be to get the squad into the postseason at the very least.
On Saturday, April 20, Truter’s debut game at Bafana Ba Gucci will take place at the Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium against the Black Leopards.
