Thanks to a wealth of elite talent, women’s college basketball has finished one of its most thrilling seasons ever, setting records for TV viewership.
The star power of JuJu Watkins, Kiki Rice, Angel Reese, Paige Bueckers, Kamilla Cardoso, and Caitlin Clark is at an all-time high, and it doesn’t seem like it will be slowing down anytime soon.
The past several years have seen a significant increase in that popularity, which will be covered in more detail in a new ESPN documentary.
What is the “Full Court Press” documentary on ESPN?
In ESPN’s “Full Court Press,” which offers an intimate look at women’s collegiate basketball from those three players’ viewpoints, Clark, Cardoso, and Rice will star. Throughout the 2023–24 season, the documentary followed the teams captained by Clark of Iowa, Cardoso of South Carolina, and Rice of UCLA.
Cardoso and Clark are well-known athletes in their country. Following their 2024 national championship match, they were ranked No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, in the WNBA Draft.
On the other hand, with the abundance of talent in women’s college basketball, Rice might have gone unnoticed. Still, she made significant progress in her sophomore year, assisting UCLA in securing the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Rice is a junior on the women’s collegiate basketball team at UCLA.
Since joining the Bruins program for the 2022–2023 season, the 5-11 guard has appeared in 70 of the 71 games in which she has started. Despite being a No. 4 seed in 2023 and a No. 2 seed in 2024, she made it to the NCAA Tournament both seasons but was eliminated in the Sweet 16.
With center Lauren Betts as her sole rival, Rice was the second-best prospect in her high school class. The top two players from the 2022 high school class are on the UCLA team thanks to Betts’ transfer from Stanford, where she spent one season before joining UCLA for her sophomore campaign.
