Delano Burgzorg hits back at ex-Huddersfield Town boss Andre Breitenreiter in farewell message

Huddersfield Town loanee Delano Burgzorg insists he “always gave 100 per cent” during his time with the club as he thanked fans for their support this campaign.

The Dutch forward made 33 appearances and netted seven goals for Town after joining on a season-long loan from Mainz in August.

However, the attacker was left out of the squad by Andre Breitenreiter for the final day clash at Ipswich Town, alongside Sorba Thomas and Jaheim Headley, with the head coach stating that he would not select anyone who he felt wouldn’t be part of the club’s plans moving forward.

Breitenreiter had been critical of some of Town’s players in the final weeks of the campaign, questioning the unity among the squad, as well as the “heart and passion” of unnamed individuals. The German has since departed the club after being unable to prevent Town from dropping into League One.

Burgzorg sought to address Breitenreiter’s comments in his parting message to supporters, and himself criticised the head coach’s decision to leave the club.
