Narine sets up KKR’s straight victory.

In the Indian Premier League at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the hosts Lucknow Super Giants by 98 runs thanks to a brilliant 81 from retired West Indies off-spinner Sunil Narine.

Narine and England’s Phil Salt shared a scorching opening partnership of 61 runs in only 4.1 overs as they batted first. After being sent to bat, Narine amassed a KKR total of 235 for 6 thanks to six fours and seven sixes off of 39 balls.

The KKR total was boosted by Salt’s 32 runs, Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s 32, Ramandeep Singh’s 25 not out, Shreyas Iyer’s 23 and Russell’s 16 runs.

Leg-spinner Varun Chakaravarthy and pacer Harshit Rana then joined forces to lead the KKR with the ball as LSG was destroyed for 137 in 16.1 overs.

Andre Russell, an all-rounder for the West Indies, took two wickets, while Rana finished with three for 24 from 3.1 overs and Chakaravarthy with three for 30 from three overs.
With 36 and 25 respectively, Australia’s Marcus Stoinis and captain K.L. Rahul led the way for LSG, while Nicholas Pooran, the left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman for the West Indies, managed just 10.
The most effective LSG bowler was Naveen-ul-Haq of Afghanistan, who took three wickets for 49 in his four overs.

With eight victories in 11 games, KKR has regained their position atop the 10-team standings with their third straight victory. With six victories from their 11 games, LSG dropped to fifth place with 12 points.
