This Four and others wave to Burnley

This Saturday, Burnley’s Premier League tenure comes to an end when they play Nottingham Forest at Turf Moor.

For the Clarets, whose relegation was sealed last week with their 2-1 loss to Tottenham, nothing is at stake.

Returning to the Championship, Vincent Kompany’s team may see significant changes this summer as they will have to sell certain players to offset the loss of TV revenue.

In the upcoming days, significant choices about players, including some club mainstays, whose contracts are up at the conclusion of the season, will also need to be made.

Here we take a look at the players who could be playing their last Burnley games on Sunday when they take on Forest:

Lorenz Assignon

There is a possibility to make the move permanent at the conclusion of the season under the agreement to sign the right-back on loan from Rennes during the January transfer window. But it’s unclear if this will happen in the wake of Burnley’s relegation.

Josh Brownhill

At the completion of the current campaign, the midfielder’s contract will expire. Although the team has the option to extend for an additional year, Brownhill is still said to be moving permanently this summer.

Jacob Bruun Larsen

Burnley has the same option as Lorenz Assignon to make the winger’s loan from Hoffenheim permanent at the end of the year, but again, this looks unlikely in the wake of relegation. The Dane has lately been linked to Everton and West Ham.

Jack Cork

The 34-year-old will undoubtedly leave this summer when his contract expires, ending his seven-year stay, having not played since February. With the two loan stints combined, he has made 234 club appearances.
