According to reports, Celtic is looking at goalkeeper Ari Muric as a potential replacement for Joe Hart.
The 25-year-old, who is presently with Burnley, was unable to keep Vincent Kompany’s team from being relegated despite playing second fiddle to £19 million player James Trafford for the majority of the season before earning a spot in the starting lineup for the final stretch. Among the names associated with the Hoops are Andriy Lunin, Alex McCarthy, and Uğurcan Çakır, the Kosovan being the most recent.
According to The Scottish Sun, Muric, who joined Burnley from Manchester City in 2022, is currently being considered. After leaving Grasshopper in 2015 to join City’s academy, he went on loans to NAC Breda, Nottingham Forest, Girona, Willem II, and Adana Demirspor.
Following a permanent relocation to Turf Moor in 2022, Muric made 41 appearances in support of the team as they won the Championship and were promoted to the Premier League. But at the beginning of the season, Trafford took his spot.
Given that Hart has decided to end his career, Celtic need a new number one. The 37-year-old made the announcement earlier this year that he would hang up his gloves and retire following this weekend’s Scottish Cup final against Rangers.
They might even make a run at more than one goalie because Ben Siegrist might decide to go on in pursuit of playing time after nearly leaving the team in January.
