With one goal and one assist from 17 League One appearances, the 28-year-old helped Paul Warne’s team secure second place in the standings. His defensive efforts were far more significant than his contributions in the final third. The Rams acquired the player in the January transfer window, and he proved instrumental in their push for promotion.
Before moving to Pride Park, the midfielder had trouble getting into games with parent club Cardiff.
The East Midlands team wants Adams back permanently, and with Derby already preparing for life back in the Championship, a contract to keep the Gambian with the team beyond this loan period may be reached, according to John Percy of The Telegraph.
Ben Johnsey, a commentator for FLW who supports Cardiff, thinks that if Derby makes an approach for Adams this summer, Cardiff should try to cash in on him.
The Welsh team’s ability to fight in the top half of the Championship table is dependent on the supporter of the Bluebirds claiming he is not up to par.
“It makes sense, in my opinion, for Ebou Adams to go to Derby County,” Jenny said to Football League World.
“I was thrilled to see him arrive at Cardiff because I believe he is a talented player.
Even if he is a player who might be better suited in the bottom half of the standings, Cardiff is undoubtedly trying to move on from his terrible injury-plagued start to his Cardiff career.
“However, he’s performed admirably during his time at Derby, so if Cardiff can secure a respectable fee for him, that would be a good chance for Cardiff to make some money back.”
Just 11 games, including three starts, were made by Adams for Erol Bulut’s team before he moved to Pride Park in January.
The midfielder assisted Forest Green Rovers in winning promotion from League Two, and he then signed with Cardiff in the summer of 2022.
Nevertheless, he was unable to play in any games during his debut season at the club due to a pre-season injury where he tore his pectoral muscle.
Now that he is back to full fitness, the 28-year-old is approaching the last 12 months of his contract with Cardiff and has battled to get playing time.
Adams’ future may be best served by a permanent sale to Derby, since the Championship team will not want to lose him in 2025 for nothing.
As Derby prepares to return to the Championship, they will want to retain as many members of Warne’s team as possible.
Adams, who made 17 starts for the team in League One, proved to be an invaluable addition to the lineup in January.
He should be a fairly cheap signing considering that he is nearing the end of his Cardiff deal and that Bulut has him far down the list of priorities.
After his loan period ends, it makes sense to move forward with signing a permanent deal this summer as it may be in everyone’s best interests at this point.
