Consistency is a must for the New Orleans Saints 2024 offensive. First, quarterback Derek Carr. Although he had trouble with injuries early in 2023, he showed some very great upside glimpses in the second part of the season. Having said that, he must execute and communicate with his receivers flawlessly. While the offensive line needs to improve as well, Carr is the unit’s main force.
However, according to one analyst for Pro Football Focus, the Saints do not currently have a quarterback that can affect the game.
Sikkema ranks Carr as the 21st-best quarterback in football.
He’s slightly ahead quarterback Russell Wilson and slightly behind Kirk Cousins.
First of all, Cousins and Carr are on the same tier. Being a quarterback, he is not a game-changer. When it counts most, you can win with him, but not because of him.
In 2023, neither Murray nor Smith showed much promise. You could make the case that Carr, quite obviously, had a better season than the two of them. Murray missed a portion of the season due to an injury, but when he did play for the Cardinals, with mediocre offense, he was not very good.
Smith took a step back from his resurgence year in 2022. He was not nearly as sharp in 2023.
Williams has not participated in any NFL games. I have less of a beef with him than I do with Carr because of his obvious physical prowess, but he still needs to establish himself as a franchise player in Chicago. To help him out, the NFC has one of the top wide receiver rooms and a strong offensive line.
Right now, the top four are clearly superior to Carr. It remains to be seen if the Saints quarterback, under Klint Kubiak, develops into a Pro Bowl caliber player in his new playbook.
