Burnley key player restrained from joining Bayern Munich

After being demoted to the Championship, Burnley should prepare for a summer of interest in their key players.

In Vincent Kompany’s first season as manager, the Clarets only managed to stay in the Premier League for one season after being promoted.

However, given that the team has already seen Kompany depart to join Bayern Munich and that some of their better players are also being linked to possible departures, this summer appears to be shaping up to be a long and challenging one.

James Trafford, the goalkeeper, has been on the radar of several teams lately, and it’s now being speculated that Kompany may be seeking a reunion in Germany.

According to Football Insider, Bayern Munich has entered the competition to recruit Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

Considering Kompany’s ties to Burnley over the past two years, it might not be shocking to see the German side considering the club.

Teams like Chelsea and Liverpool have already been reported to have shown interest in the goalie, including Newcastle United.

After joining the Clarets in the summer of last year, Trafford had an uneventful debut season as the team’s top pick at first, but he quickly lost his starting position halfway through the campaign.

According to this rumor, the Belgian would try to prioritize Trafford’s signing as he assembles his team for the upcoming campaign.

Burnley is not looking to let go of Trafford cheaply, even though he has a contract that runs until the summer of 2027.

According to reports, the Clarets are reportedly seeking a price tag of about £20 million for the former Manchester City goalkeeper.

Without a doubt, it indicates that a player has been doing something well if they are being linked to a move to Bayern Munich.

James Trafford is being linked to the team, which is wonderful to see for the player because the organization doesn’t aim to recruit just any player.

The 21-year-old is still extremely early in his football career, having started it as an academy player at Manchester City and gone on a couple loan stints.

However, he made the decision to go from them permanently last summer since Burnley was providing him with a path to Premier League football and first-team action.

Playing in 28 of the 38 games during his first full season in the Premier League, Trafford did fairly well; in fact, several of his performances were recognized by Sofascore.com.

The 21-year-old gave up 62 goals in those contests, or 2.2 goals per game on average.

However, according to Sofascore.com, the goalie also had a role in averting further damage, making 106 saves overall (3.8 per game) and only managing two clean sheets.

The 2023–24 season saw Burnley play very badly defense-wise generally, with Trafford bearing the brunt of it as the starting goalie.

However, it appears that his performances are still strong because the midfielder is being linked to moves to Chelsea, Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich.

Trafford is now on tour with the England team in an attempt to create an impression and secure a spot in the final Euro 2024 squad.

The goalie won’t allow transfer rumors to divert him, although he will naturally be thrilled to learn that a team like Munich is considering him.

He must be wary of this desire, though, since it might just be a result of Kompany joining the German team and having a connection to one of his former teammates.

The fact that the team now has Manuel Neuer, one of the best goalkeepers in the world, in goal could perhaps deter Trafford from joining the German powerhouse.
