At present, Keagan Dolly is the highest-paid player for the club, earning R1.45 million each month. Zitha Kwiniks (R370 000) and Itumeleng Khune (R480 000) round out the list of the Chiefs’ highest-paid players.
Remarkably, all three men are facing potential ways out. First off, two PSL opponents have expressed interest in Dolly. Furthermore, this occurs at a time when Naturena’s future is unclear. Due to injuries, he missed the majority of the most recent DStv Premiership campaign. This has prompted management to reevaluate his worth, both monetary and in terms of the value he brings to the team. According to recent sources, in order to remain at the club, he could have to accept a 50% pay cut. If these rumors are accurate, he may decide to leave the team if he is not satisfied with his new deal. Moreover, his contract will end. As a result, the management and new coach will choose whether to let him go or pay him a lower salary.
Khune is expected to join these PSL opponents after leaving Chiefs in the interim. The last living legend of Amakhosi is still willing to play. But as things stand, if he wants to stay at Naturena, Amakhosi wants him to hang up his boots (and gloves). Thus, barring a last-minute change of heart, Khune is probably going to head out to play some more.
