Bolton Wanderers repeated same mistakes they made in 2023 on summer transfer

The adage “getting business done early is often paramount to a team’s success” is well-known, but it makes sense. As summer progresses, there will be increasing worries that Wanderers might not be able to meet this deadline.

Ian Evatt, the club manager, Chris Markham, and the rest of the sporting directorate will be eager to steer clear of the blunders that were committed at this time last year, as the first game of the 2024–25 campaign approaches in two months.

Keanu Baccus was reportedly the subject of lengthy negotiations with Saint Mirren last summer, during which time a deal worth approximately £250,000 was reportedly agreed upon for the Australia international. Baccus has acknowledged feeling underappreciated during these talks, but the lengthy process ultimately broke down.

Florian Flick, a Germany U21 international, was apparently the subject of interest from Bolton at the same time, but his move was delayed due to an ankle injury, and he ended up moving on loan to Nuremberg.
