Bad news he wont play again

Texas’s Arlington (AP) For the first time since undergoing reconstructive right elbow surgery a little over a year ago, two-time Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom took the mound on Monday. Meanwhile, Max Scherzer’s upcoming start might mark the start of the Texas Rangers season.

Out of 15 pitches, none of DeGrom’s were broken.

DeGrom remarked, “I’m not sure of the timeline, but feeling really good.” Today I touched the mound for the first time, and it went incredibly well. Thus, day by day. This week, I received two more times. And from there, just keep going forward.

Two days before turning thirty-six, DeGrom threw out of the bullpen before the Rangers began a homestand against his old team, the New York Mets. Free agent deGrom signed a five-year, $185 million contract with Texas prior to the 2023 campaign.

Since the three-time Cy Young Award winner was traded to Texas at the trade deadline last summer, the Mets are essentially covering the majority of Scherzer’s salary.

After the World Series the previous year, Scherzer has not pitched for the defending champion Rangers. On Saturday night, he made a rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock and threw 4 2/3 innings. Before the game on Monday, Texas manager Bruce Bochy stated that he anticipated Scherzer’s next start will be in the major leagues, although he did not specify when.
