Auburn basketball legend retiring from NBA after 2024-25 season

Inside The NBA will cease to exist after the 2024–25 season, and Charles Barkley, the legendary basketball player from Auburn, will retire from commentating on the primary pregame, halftime, and postgame show for the Association.

As Barkley stated, he will finish his career after TNT’s NBA contract expires because of loyalty to the network.

“Over the past few months, our network has been the subject of a lot of commotion. I just wanted to let you know that, even though I spoke with every other network, Barkley responded, “I’m not going anywhere but TNT” (source: Yahoo Sports). “However, I’ve decided that next year will be my last year appearing on television, no matter what.

“I would like to express my gratitude to my NBA family. You guys have been amazing to me, and I am very happy and grateful that I will be passing the torch at the end of the following year. I hope TNT continues to host the NBA. I’ll transfer the reins to someone like Vince Carter, Jamal Crawford, or you, Steve [Smith], but I’m just going to retire at the end of the year after 25 years. I’m not going to another network.”

In 2025 and beyond, you can definitely find Chuck in two places: wandering around Leeds as he gives back to his hometown and attending Auburn basketball and football games. He is not likely to accept a job at his alma mater and will not be making a significant contribution to NIL.

Barkley might end up peacefully sailing off into the sunset. In his hometown, in his college town, and, let’s be honest, all around the state, he will always have a place.

Barkley was a Hall of Fame athlete who also rose to prominence in the media. Throughout his career, he was essentially always at the peak of his game.

Whatever the nature of the game was.
