With their 83rd overall selection, the Denver Broncos traded back into the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft to choose Riley Moss, an Iowa cornerback. Moss, a 6’1″, 193-pound cornerback with excellent ball skills and instincts, will provide the Broncos secondary some much-needed depth.
Riley Moss was a valuable member of Iowa’s defense for five seasons throughout his playing career. Moss participated in forty-three games over those five years, recording 158 tackles, five stops for a loss, eleven interceptions, three defensive touchdowns, twenty-six pass deflections, and two forced fumbles. He racked up 47 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 interception, 11 pass deflections, and 2 forced fumbles in the previous campaign.
Regretfully, Moss was sidelined for the entirety of training camp, the preseason, and the regular season after suffering a core muscle injury early in camp and needing surgery. Due to this, he was only able to play in 14 games during his rookie campaign, mostly on special teams, and finished the 2023 regular season with just six tackles.
