Under head coach Josh Heupel, the Tennessee Volunteers have recently enjoyed considerable success in the collegiate football league. The program has experienced something of a rebirth. The NFL, the Sunday league, invests when teams succeed on Saturdays. The Miami Dolphins selected Jaylen Wright, the highest-drafted player from the Vols, in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of the three selections made by the team.
Wright and the Dolphins have officially signed his rookie contract. As a fourth-round selection, he signed a four-year rookie contract worth $4,780,020, which includes a $760,020 guaranteed signing bonus.
Wright now wants to contribute right away to this Dolphins team, where he is particularly suited to play. More than any other NFL roster, the Dolphins have made speed a priority. At the NFL Combine, Wright’s 40-yard dash time of 4.38 placed him as the sixth quickest dolphine.
Miami Dolphins Fastest 40 Times:
- WR, Anthony Schwartz – 4.27
- WR, Tyreek Hill – 4.29
- RB, De’Von Achane – 4.32
- RB, Raheem Moster – 4.34
- WR, Jaylen Waddle – 4.37
- RB, Jaylen Wright – 4.38
- CB, Ethan Bonner – 4.39
- CB, Jalen Ramsey – 4.41
- CB, Cam Smith – 4.43
There is no denying that the NFL’s quickest running back room consists of Achane, Mostert, and Wright. The good news for Wright is that, while being well down the depth chart, Mostert has only twice in nine seasons played all 16 games, and Achane only appeared in 11 games in the previous season. Jaylen Wright will probably get a lot of action for the Dolphins this fall, even if he doesn’t start.
