After more than ten years at Craven Cottage, Rodak is currently looking for a new team after failing to appear in the Premier League last season.
It’s not surprising that a lot of second-tier teams are interested in signing him this summer given his abundance of championship experience and status as a free agent. Teams like Derby County, Hull City, Blackburn Rovers, and Burnley have all been mentioned.
Hull would need to pay Rodak’s salary demands in order to sign him, according to Alan Nixon’s Patreon. However, Burnley has already rejected Rodak, and his demands still stand in the way of Blackburn Rovers and Derby.
Carlton Palmer, a pundit and former England player, thinks Hull City will be able to pay Rodak’s salary demands and sign him this summer.
Palmer stated, “Hull City and Derby County are in the race to sign Fulham’s ex-goalkeeper Marek Rodak,” in an exclusive interview with Football League World.
“After his contract ended at the end of the season, Rodak left the team. Following Fulham’s promotion two years prior, he made just two league games before being let go.
“After selling Ryan Allsop to Birmingham City, Hull is in dire need of a goalkeeper with experience, while Derby County has lost League One Golden Glove winner Joe Wildsmith to West Brom.
The player who was reportedly making £15k per week at Fulham has a lot of competition. He won’t be making that kind of money, but he will still be seeking a substantial amount, and Derby, Burnley, and Blackburn Rovers appear to have lost interest in him thus far.
Despite the signing of Vaclav Hladky from Ipswich, Rodak might resurface on Burnley’s radar if James Trafford is sold. However, given that Hladky was Ipswich’s first choice and helped the team advance, I don’t see Burnley pursuing another goalkeeper.
Derby County is expected to be priced out of the competition because of their tight salary structure, with James Collins reportedly earning £8.5k a week.
With three promotions under his belt, Rodak is an experienced player who would be a solid addition for a team like Hull City. Since Hull wants to move forward and pursue promotion, I believe they will go all in for him. However, given the pay issue, I believe Hull is in a strong position. We all know that Paul Warne is a serial promoter.
That doesn’t mean, though, that other teams won’t be interested in him.
Hull City has experienced a difficult summer thus far, losing several important players to other teams, including Ozan Tufan, Jacob Greaves, and Jaden Philogene.
So far, they have only signed Ryan Giles to the first team, and it is obvious that they need to recruit more players, so Rodak would be a nice addition.
Ryan Allsop, the team’s first pick from the previous season, left for Birmingham City, but the Tigers still have players like Ivor Pandur, who came from Fortuna Sittard in January, and young players Thimothee Lo-Tutala and Harvey Cartwright, who played on loan for Grimsby and Doncaster Rovers, respectively, last season.
