Deals to complete before August 30th deadline

Although Scott Parker has a very strong bunch of players at his disposal, it’s difficult to maintain a cohesive team when some of the cogs aren’t needed or aren’t being used, as previous managers have discovered at other teams.

Many members of the Clarets’ playing staff could go before the end of August. Tommy Conway, the Scottish international striker for Bristol City, could be coming to Turf Moor in exchange for Scott Twine and Luke McNally.

According to Football Insider, McNally is also drawing interest from a few other second-tier EFL teams, such as Birmingham City and Stoke City.

Parker may relax the proverbial belt on his team in more ways besides sales. Players like Michael Mellon have already been allowed to temporarily leave Turf Moor, and before the summer transfer window closes, these two may do the same.

When the 21-year-old defender joined from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, he has already spent two stints away from the team.

Egan-Riley played for PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands and Hibernian in Scotland. Although he traveled to the Netherlands to play for PSV’s under-21 team, he played far more regularly during each of those terms than he has for his native club.

Although the former Citizens player did make a few appearances in the promotion-winning 2022–2023 season, he hasn’t really played a big role for Burnley since moving here as a teenager.

Egan-Riley hasn’t distinguished himself as one of the top contenders for the right-back position in the upcoming campaign, even though the Clarets may require a right-back alternative (he can also play in the center of defense). Again, leaving Turf Moor may be his only chance to play meaningful minutes.

After spending time in the Dutch second division, it is clear that he is prepared for a football career and that clubs should be interested in signing him. Finding a cub that fits him well and challenges him will be Burnley’s task in order to grow.

Over the last two seasons, Dara Costelloe has played a relatively restricted role for the Burnley first team. During Vincent Kompany’s tenure, he made just two league appearances before leaving the team and going on loan.

The 21-year-old Irish forward has also spent some time briefly north of the border, similar to Egan-Riley. For the first half of the previous season, Costelloe was a member of St Johnstone. After that, in January, he started playing for Dundee FC.

He has spent the entire last eighteen months on loan, including a stint at Bradford City towards the end of the 2022–2023 season. Therefore, it only makes sense that he would look elsewhere once more to obtain some meaningful playing time.

The Scottish teams that utilized him last time out mostly used him on the flanks, which didn’t appear to help him as he finished the campaign with just one goal and two assists.
