Moroka Swallows are still in the game!

The former player for the Dube Birds claims he is looking for ways to obtain his due from the former top-tier South African team.

One of the players fired by Moroka Swallows in January 2024 for a supposed disciplinary infraction was Tshidiso Patjie.

After all, the midfielder joined Baroka FC in their ultimately futile attempt to push for promotion to the Premier Soccer League.

Due to severe financial difficulties, Swallows were forced to sell Marumo Gallants their Premier Soccer League standing.

The present playing team, which was bound by contracts, was among the rights that the Dube Birds sold.

The 33-year-old, however, now maintains that his contract was terminated without his dues being fully cleared, and he is not giving up on what he feels is unpaid.

Should further players from the January purge find themselves in a similar situation, it might be problematic for Marumo Gallants and the fan forum that hopes to revive Swallows in the lower divisions.

“I have no control over what is going on; the club owners and those selling the franchise decide whether or not to sell it. It’s okay, he told iDiski Times, as long as I know that what I stood up for was correct, even if I haven’t won justice because I still haven’t received my money.

“The South African Football Players Union are the people I have been speaking with.”They are the ones working on my case, and I haven’t heard anything from them as of yet. However, I am aware that my case is still pending.”

It will be fascinating to observe the extent to which Patjie’s claim under the SAFPU is pursued and whether additional players come forward to assert their rightful claims.

From Patjie’s professional standpoint, Baroka must hope that the seasoned midfield player stays put following their unsuccessful attempt to obtain promotion, as doing so would impair the team’s performance and their prospects of winning a promotion again in 2024–2025.
