Guardian Caps — which are used as additional head protection over helmets — are all the rage during NFL training camps as players are required to use them there.

But now, there’s the option to wear them during games. And with the Pittsburgh Steelers playing the Houston Texans in a preseason game on Friday night, Steelers right guard James Daniels might have become the first player to ever wear one in a contest.

To be fair, the Broncos have been hampered by injuries in 2024, with big guns Walsh, Adam Reynolds, Payne Haas and Ezra Mam all spending significant time on the sidelines. But there’s a growing theory that the hype and popularity the players have received in the last two years has inflated their egos and made them believe they’re better than what they are.
