Dolphins Star Officially Out for Season Following Major Injury
The Miami Dolphins can’t seem to catch a break this season. With injuries piling up, they find themselves at 1-3 after suffering a third consecutive loss to the Tennessee Titans on “Monday Night Football.
” In addition to starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa being on injured reserve, the Dolphins lost another key player during Monday’s game: star linebacker Jaelan Phillips, who sustained a knee injury and did not return.
On Wednesday, Phillips confirmed that he suffered a season-ending knee injury that will require reconstructive surgery. This marks the second consecutive year that Phillips has faced an injury that has cut his season short.
“I believe that our lives are defined by how we handle adversity. In these moments of uncertainty, defeat, and sorrow, it is natural to question your purpose and wonder what is the meaning of this pain.” Phillips wrote
He later added in the statement, “The mission is still the mission. I have unfinished business to take care of and I will come out of this trial victorious. Thank you all for your continued support and love. FINS UP.” While enduring back-to-back season-ending injuries is incredibly frustrating for a player of Phillips’ caliber, there’s no doubt he will come back stronger and better. He’s that type of athlete.
